His Eminence, Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R., archbishop of Newark, joined the Saint Peter\u2019s University community in celebrating the Feast of the Chair of Saint Peter the Apostle on February 22 at St. Aedan\u2019s: The Saint Peter\u2019s University Church. Students, faculty, staff, local Jersey City residents and high school students came together for Cardinal Tobin\u2019s first Mass for the Saint Peter\u2019s community.<\/p>\n

Cardinal Tobin\u2019s homily focused on forgiveness and healing.\u00a0 The Chair of Saint Peter is a symbol of those who feed, nourish and offer forgiveness to others, which Jesus asks everyone to do.<\/p>\n

Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of Saint Peter\u2019s University, thanked Cardinal Tobin for visiting, especially as Saint Peter\u2019s undergoes its Mission Examen process. Cardinal Tobin\u2019s visit and celebration of Mass helped highlight the Examen year, reaffirming Saint Peter\u2019s commitment to its Catholic and Jesuit mission and identity.<\/p>\n

Following Mass, Cardinal Tobin toured the campus with student ambassadors. He blessed the Mac Mahon Student Center, which housed the 2018 Career Fair. Next, he visited the Business School and The Theresa and Edward O\u2019Toole Library. Finally, he completed his tour at the Victor R. Yanitelli, S.J. Recreational Life Center.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
