There are many resources for Veterans, Active Military and Military Family members.\u00a0 We want to make sure you know about your VA and DOD benefits and how to qualify.\u00a0 Saint Peter\u2019s is committed to helping you find the resources to support your educational plans.\u00a0 Sometimes the benefit source is Saint Peter\u2019s generous scholarships.<\/p>\n

\"YellowYellow Ribbon Program<\/h3>\n

Saint Peter\u2019s\u00a0University also participates in the Yellow Ribbon program, contributing 50% of those tuition charges not covered by the Post 9\/11 GI Bill.\u00a0 With the 50% match from the VA through this program and the remaining 50% match from the school, it may be possible for students to attend at little or no cost.\u00a0 The Yellow Ribbon program is available to veterans who are entitled to the maximum benefit rate of 100%.<\/p>\n

Monthly Living (Housing) Stipend is generally available through the Yellow Ribbon Program.<\/span><\/p>\n

\r\n \r\n <\/i><\/span>\r\n <\/i><\/span>\r\n <\/span>\r\n Monthly Living (Housing) Stipend<\/span>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

As an eligible veteran or member of the National Guard or Selected Reserve you may receive a monthly housing allowance\u00a0(living stipend) based on the ZIP code of the locations of the school you are attending \u2013 not your home ZIP code. This stipend currently averages $1,368 a month, but can exceed $2,700 depending on where you go to school.<\/p>\n

This stipend is based on the DoD\u2019s\u00a0Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH)<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>for an E-5 with dependents. This stipend does not require students to live on campus.<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong>\u00a0Service members currently on active duty and veterans (and eligible family members) and those taking courses on a half-time basis do not qualify for the monthly housing stipend.<\/p>\n

Students taking 100% of their courses online\u00a0are eligible for a monthly stipend equal to half of the national average stipend, which is $714.50 for 2013.<\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n <\/div>\n

\"PostPost 9\/11 GI Bill<\/h3>\n

The Post-9\/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) is the most frequently used VA education benefit. It provides up to 36 months of benefits to help pay for school or job training for Veterans, Service members, survivors and dependents.<\/p>\n

Your Post-9\/11 GI Bill benefits may include financial support for school tuition, fees, books, supplies, and housing. You may also receive reimbursement for license or certification tests, national exams or assistance for apprenticeships or on-the-job-training.<\/p>\n

A one-time benefit to help you relocate from certain rural areas to attend school is also available. Based on length of active service, you are entitled to a percentage of each type of benefit, up to 100% of the maximum benefit.<\/p>\n
