This year’s recipient is CAS/SBA undergraduate Ondrelique Ouellette ’16 who, in the picture, is holding the award plaque and is standing next to Ishea Neal ’17, a public policy student. Oulette, a social justice minor, gave a presentation at the workshop on how the life, writings and actions of Dr. King inspires her social justice work and helped to frame her efforts to help organize a recent Black Lives Matter march from campus and down to the Jersey City waterfront.

Winston is a China-U.S. relations expert who currently serves as Manager for the China-U.S. Energy Efficiency Alliance. He works closely with industry, government officials and other experts from China and the U.S. to implement projects and elaborate policies to improve energy efficiency in China. He formerly served with the International Public Policy Institute (IPPI), a United Nations affiliated Non-Governmental Organization. He has written on human migration issues and their effect on urban China, waste to energy technology for Accra, Ghana and smart grid technology for global energy grids.

Winston served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Sichuan, China from 2006-2008 where he helped implement a local environmental awareness project.

Winston has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Saint Peter’s University (class of 2005) and a Masters of International Affairs from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs. He is tri-lingual in German, English and Chinese Mandarin.

Dr. Jackson, a pediatrician, spoke about “Sustainable Lives: About More than Environment!” He is renowned in the field of environmental issues and health, and is a professor and chair of environmental health sciences at the Fielding School of Public Health at the University of California in Los Angeles.
