Dan Wisnseki, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology, and Maryellen Hamilton, Ph.D., chair and professor in the psychology department, recently attended the Transforming STEM Higher Education Conference in Chicago, which was hosted by the Association of American Colleges & Universities (AACU). During the conference, they presented results from their research, “Using the Theory of Reasoned Action to Incentivize STEM Course Improvement.”

For the contributions in the field of REBT including three new books and two other revised editions of previously published books within the past five years, Leonor Lega, Ph.D., professor of psychology, has been awarded the status of Life Member at the Albert Ellis Institute in NYC, and elected Honorary President of the REBT Chapter in the Asociacion Psicologica Espanola (Spain).

Dr. Lega has delivered several keynote addresses in several international congresses in psychology, the last one being the opening keynote lecture in Barcelona, Spain at the VIII Simposio en Terapia Racional Emotiva Conductual, November 8-10.

They were in a group of 24 faculty and administrators from Jesuit colleges and universities around the United States. The group met with Rev. Jose Idiáquez, S.J., (pictured center above), Lea Montes, director of Jesuit services for migrants, as well as many university and community leaders, who shared their perspectives on the country’s history, culture, economy and social issues. The Ignatian Colleagues Program (ICP) is a national program of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) designed to educate and form administrators and faculty more deeply in the Jesuit & Catholic tradition of higher education, so that they may better articulate, adapt and advance the Jesuit and Catholic mission of their campuses.

What:

Wisneski worked alongside Linda Skitka, of the University of Illinois, and researchers from the University of Cologne and Tilburg University to complete the study titled, “Morality in Everyday Life.” The research was conducted utilizing an innovative method that had previously not been applied to morality science. More than 1,200 adults from the United States and Canada participated in a three day study in which they received five daily signals on their smartphoness at random times throughout the day and they provided information about any moral or immoral acts that they had committed, received or noticed around them.
