Eight members of the Saint Peter’s Esports program were named to the Fall 2019 ECAC All-Academic Team, which requires that all players have a GPA of 3.2 or higher. The students include Adam Almontaser ’23, Diego Herrer ’21, Michael Mitchell ’20, Alexander Moscote ’20, Nabil Hernandez ’23, Marcelo Munoz ’22, Jazmine Galang ’23 and Isaiah Dasilva Torres ’21.

In other Esports news, the Saint Peter’s Super Smash Brothers team finished third overall in the EGFC Founders Tournament that concluded on January 26.

Saint Peter’s Sponsors Helix Esports Fall League High School Gaming Competition

Saint Peter’s University recently sponsored the All Academic Esports Team for the Fall League at Helix Esports, the premier Esports center for gamers in the North NJ/NYC area.

In addition to the Academic Team, the University sponsored the awards for the winning teams in each game category, including Overwatch, League of Legends, Super Smash Ultimate, Rocket League and Fortnite. North Bergen High School was the top winner with Memorial High School right behind. Pictured here are Dave Bryngil, executive director of wellness and recreation, who also oversees the University’s intercollegiate Esports program, along with two Academic Esports Team members from Union City High School.

Saint Peter’s University Business Students Visit Headquarters of Party City Holdings

Ten students from the Saint Peter’s business program recently visited the headquarters of Party City Holdings in Elmsford, N.Y. The visit included presentations by the chief financial officer, EVP of product development, SVP of manufacturing, president of retail operations and culminated with a presentation by the chief executive officer. Students learned about Party City Holdings’ history, financials, organizational structure, product conception and development process, sourcing, store operations, merchandising and growth strategy. A highlight of the visit was a tour of the company’s product display center which showcased the breath of the company’s extensive product line.

On March 15, more than 100 Saint Peter’s alumni, friends and students joined together at the Gallery at Liberty Prime in Jersey City to network, engage with the University and hear from guest speaker Kevin Cummings, president and CEO of Investors Bank. Cummings led a discussion about “Stimulating Growth Through Business Leadership and Community Involvement.”

Robert Donnelly, M.B.A., professor of business administration, was a panelist at the Small Business Series at FDU’s Rothman Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Madison on November 28. The Small Business Series is a platform for small to medium-sized business owners to learn and ask questions of experienced entrepreneurs and executives who have run successful businesses. About 100 business owners were in attendance at the event.
