Biological Chemistry is a branch of science focused on the chemical processes and substances that occur within living organisms. It explores how molecules such as proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and carbohydrates interact to form the foundation of biological processes, playing a key role in fields such as medicine, pharmacology, and biotechnology.<\/p>\n
Students will explore essential questions like: How do chemical reactions support life? What are the molecular mechanisms behind diseases? How can biochemistry help develop new medical treatments?<\/p>\n
Saint Peter\u2019s offers an interdisciplinary approach that integrates chemistry, biology, and technology. Students can engage in hands-on research and internships through programs like TREX (Transformative Experiences Program), which provide practical experience in the STEM field and count towards academic credit.<\/p>\n
Courses like “Biomedical Applications of DNA Technology” and “Medical Immunology” offer cutting-edge content that combines traditional biochemical knowledge with modern technologies, focusing on areas such as gene therapy and immunotherapy.<\/p>\n
Studying Biological Chemistry prepares students for a wide array of careers in research, healthcare, and biotechnology. It equips them with critical thinking, laboratory, and problem-solving skills that are highly valued in today\u2019s scientific industries.<\/p>\n
