The Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO)<\/a> provide grants with the purpose of outreach and student services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. TRIO includes eight programs targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation college students and individuals with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Through a Department of Education grant competition, Saint Peter\u2019s University was awarded a five-year (2025-2030) Student Support Services (SSS) grant<\/a> for $1.3 million to provide opportunities for academic development, assist students with college requirements, and motivate students toward successfully completing their degrees.<\/span><\/p>\n

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is funded to serve 140 students annually. TRIO SSS is designed to assist students who are first-generation, from low-income backgrounds, and\/or have disabilities to persist in college until they earn their baccalaureate degrees. The goal of SSS is to increase retention and graduation rates of participants through quality interactions, clear expectations and pathways to academic preparedness.
