Applicants are also required to have a minimum of one year professional nursing practice and possess current licenses as registered nurses in New Jersey. Applicants must present their licenses for documentation. Applicants with bachelor\u2019s degrees from colleges outside the United States must submit official Course-by-Course Degree evalsuations (with an English Translation) from\u00a0World Education Services, Inc. (WES). \u00a0The School of Nursing will <strong>only accept<\/strong> evalsuations from World Education Services, Inc.<\/li>\n<li>Recommendations: Three letters of recommendation from professional nurses in supervisory positions or academic nurse educators.<\/li>\n<li>Malpractice Coverage: Applicants must show current malpractice insurance coverage with minimums of $1,000,000 per claim and $6,000,000 aggregate.<\/li>\n<li>Satisfactory completion of undergraduate statistics and nursing research courses.<\/li>\n<li>Physical assessment skills. General admission requirements are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A MSN from a nursing program accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency.<\/li>\n<li>Cumulative GPA minimum of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.<\/li>\n<li>Official transcripts for all graduate nursing course work and degree completed.<\/li>\n<li>Three letters of recommendation attesting to the applicant\u2019s potential for success In doctoral studies.<\/li>\n<li>Essay discussing your professional goals in relation to achieving the DNP degree at Saint Peter\u2019s University (1,000 words).<\/li>\n<li>Current resume.<\/li>\n<li>A personal interview may be requested.<\/li>\n<li>Hold a national certification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants for the Direct\/Clinical or Advanced Practice Track must, in addition to the General Admission requirements, meet the following requirement:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hold <strong>national certification<\/strong> as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Midwife, or Nurse Anesthetist and be practicing as an Advanced Practice Nurse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants for the Indirect\/Non-Clinical or Nurse Executive\/Administrative Track must, in addition to the General Admission requirements, meet the following requirement:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have a specialty or concentration in administration and be engaged in an executive or administrative role.<\/li>\n<li>Hold certification in his\/her field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants are reviewed for September and January admissions. However, in order to maintain low student to faculty ratioses and to afford students the opportunity to be known as individuals and in the spirit of the Jesuit educational philosophy of <em>cura personalis<\/em>, the admissions process is competitive and the number of individuals admitted each term is limited. The University code for score reporting is 2806.<\/li>\n<li>Course-by-course evalsuation reporting a 4 year bachelor\u2019s degree (with an English Translation) from World Education Services, Inc. The School of Nursing will <strong>only accept<\/strong> evalsuations from World Education Services, Inc. (WES).<\/li>\n<li>Saint Peter&#8217;s International Statement of Financial Support including proof of funding.<\/li>\n<li>Copy of valid passport page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>International applicants must submit their applications and materials at least three months prior to the term in which they intend to start graduate study. I-20s will only be issued to individuals who have been accepted as fully admitted students.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a id="f03c4fb155" name=\"criminalbackgroundchecksandhealthrecords\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Criminal Background Checks and Health Records<\/h3>\n<p>Criminal history background checks are required for all candidates. The State of New Jersey requires proof of immunization against rubella, rubeola, mumps, and varicella. Therefore a copy of <strong>titer results<\/strong> and an updated physical must be on file in the <strong>University Health Office in Jersey City<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a id="f03c4fb155" name=\"jesuitnetwork\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Jesuit Network<\/h3>\n<p>The nursing program participates in the Network of MSN Programs at Jesuit Colleges and Universities. Saint Peter\u2019s University may be able to assist students who have completed a significant number of nursing courses at another Jesuit college or university to complete their degree at the original school. Details will be provided upon request.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a id="f03c4fb155" name=\"honorsociety\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Honor Society<\/h3>\n<p>Saint Peter\u2019s has a chapter of <em>Sigma Theta Tau<\/em>, the International Honor Society of Nursing, <em>Mu-Theta-at-large<\/em>, that recognizes superior achievements in nursing, encourages leadership development, fosters high nursing standards, stimulates creative work, and strengthens the commitment to ideals of the profession.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a id="f03c4fb155" name=\"professionalmemberships\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Professional Memberships<\/h3>\n<p>The University is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, Jesuit Conference of Nursing Programs, National League for Nursing, and New Jersey Council of Baccalaureate and Higher Degree Programs in Nursing.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a id="f03c4fb155" name=\"transfercredit\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Transfer Credit<\/h3>\n<p>A student must initiate the request for transfer credit and secure the necessary official transcript(s), transfer credit form, and the approval of transfer credit from the Coordinator of the Program in which the student is enrolled. A grade of B or better is necessary for all transfer credits that will be applied toward a degree. In the MSN or DNP programs, <strong>a maximum of 6 transfer credits<\/strong> may be accepted from accredited graduate schools.<\/p>\n<p>In the Post-Master\u2019s Certificate Program, a maximum of 5 transfer credits may be accepted from accredited graduate schools.<\/p>\n<p>Transcripts will be evalsuated on an individual basis.
