About Trish Gianakis
Trisha Gianakis is an award-winning immersive artist, professor, and art director whose work bridges the worlds of fine art and emerging technologies. With over 20 years of experience in user experience and interface design, she has garnered awards nationally and internationally. For the last nine years, she has been a dedicated fine artist, her artworks blend physical sculpture, interactive installations, and cutting-edge digital media to explore themes of healing, spirituality, and innovation.
Holding a Master’s Degree in Computer Art Installation from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, Professor Gianakis has remained at the forefront of digital art and technology. Since 2018, she has integrated augmented reality into her artwork and expanded into virtual reality experiences in 2020, further enhancing her immersive storytelling. She is also a Rocky Mountain Emmy Award winner for on-air graphics created for an NBC documentary, and her UX/UI expertise has led her to collaborate with Major League Baseball, MERCK, AMC TV’s Walking Dead, Breaking Bad shows, and iconic artists such as Bon Jovi, Elton John, and Queen Latifah.
At Saint Peter’s University, Professor Gianakis teaches digital art, visual art, and digital design, guiding students in creatively applying traditional art mediums with emerging tools and digital media. Her recent projects include virtual reality television set designs developed during her artist residency at BronxNet TV. She continues to pioneer the use of extended reality technologies in education, public art, and interdisciplinary creative practices.
“When it comes to web design and digital design, it’s important to have a strong foundation in technical skills. I want students understanding why they use certain tools and the fundamental principals behind them.”
